Ohhh meu corazon! Estou muito triste hoje.
The simply amazing, beautiful, and magical ‘barefoot diva’ know to the world as Cesaria Evora has just passed.
Meeting her, interviewing her, seeing her perform at Place Des Arts in the fifth row center stage, and having a glass of wine with her & the band backstage after the show was one of the most magical days of my life! Seriously, I was floating that day.
Here’s the interview piece that I produced for CKUT’s World Skip The Beat show in 2007.
The first song I ever heard Cesaria sing was Sodade, which instantly brought to tears to my eyes. The heartache, the longing, the sadness epressed in her voice is simply too beautiful for words.
