MissMe Makes Montreal aMazing

I just discovered the latest work of MissMe who has just put up a series of interesting paste on art pieces of some of everyone’s favorite Jazz Icons called Jazz Saints around the city. The timing is right as it also seems to coincide nicely with February being Black History Month.

On her blog The Lady And The Sweatshop,  the artist writes, “The intention was to mix portraits with an interpretation of classical Orthodox Icons. But to each his own: Georges Gershwin has his famous cigar and piano, Miles Davis, his beloved trumpet, Sarah Vaughan, her classic mic, Nina Simone a black power medallion and Billie Holliday, the first lyrics of the very important “Strange Fruit” first sang in 1939. “

Thanks Lady for making Montreal a little less dreary at this very dreary time of year!
