Montreal’s own singer, songwriter, and developing producer Sarah Linhares creates a unique blend of futuristic R & B, mixed with bass heavy celestial beats and luminous, Synth-driven Electronic sounds. Fusing her Portuguese-Irish roots with her Canadian upbringing, Sarah’s love affair with music began while singing in her local church choir as a child. Her sound has since evolved through a diversity of musical influences, from U.K Electronica, Sci-Fi film soundtracks, to Afro-Brazilian samba.

Since participating in 2007’s Red Bull Music Academy in Toronto, Sarah released her debut record, Messages From The Future, on Public Transit Recordings in 2011. Capturing the imagination of a wide international audience, Messages From The Future was championed by Gilles Peterson (BBC) iTunes Japan, CBC Radio, Antena 3 Radio Portugal, XLR8R, and was a finalist in the GAMIQ awards.

2012 brought a collaboration with one of Portugal’s best-loved electronic producers, DJ Ride – their electrifying track ‘Here Before’, was released on Optimus Records and now has nearly 400 000 views on Youtube.

In addition to performing in cities throughout Venezuela and Europe – from Lisbon to London – Sarah was recently awarded a CALQ Travel grant, and a Factor grant in support of her Electro Soul Ep project, Future Falcon.

Having opened for the likes of King Britt, Mount Kimbie, Lapalux, and Carl Craig, Sarah has made appearances at a multitude of festivals, including Lisbon’s Optimus Alive Festival, Montreal’s International Jazz Fest, Mutek, POP Montreal, Toronto’s Nu-Jazz & Manifesto Festivals, and FrancoFolies.

Sarah is currently developing her second solo record, a collection of songs inspired by her experience of exploring her own Madeiran roots while she attended the Pedra Sina Artist Residency in the unique sub-tropical landscape of Madeira Island, Portgual.
